The Department of English, first known as Tamkang English College, has enjoyed 58 years of history. Now, there are 1,148 undergraduate students, 92 master students and 68 PhD students in the department. The graduate programs includes an English and American Literature Group as well as an English Pedagogy Group to cover diverse interests and specializations. Because of high-profile international academic collaboration and exchange activities over the last decade, the Department of English has become a key department at Tamkang University. |
The undergraduate program aims to equip students with fundamental English abilities and develop their professional English skills for career opportunities in education, business, or industries. The master program aims to develop primary research capabilities and professional training in pedagogy, translation, or cultural studies. The PhD program aims to cultivate talent for advanced English research in literature or pedagogy for their careers in literary studies or English teaching in institutes of higher education. |
