The candidates of the Junior Abroad Project comprise all juniors in the university, day or extensive divisions. Draftees can follow the "Regulations for Exit of Draftees" revised by Ministry of Education. We offer a Dual-MA in TESOL program in collaboration with Winona State University.

Winona State University sits beside the Mississippi River in southeast Minnesota, offering a beautiful and placid environment for study. Winona State University, established in 1858, the first teacher training institute west of the Mississippi River, comprises 5 colleges, 60 departments, 8 graduate schools, and 11 pre-professional programs. There are 7,300 students, including 300 international students coming from 44 countries or regions around the world. The university was ranked one of the top-5 safest campuses in America in 1990. Following its motto, "Success by Design," the university has spent plenty of human and material resources helping students in academics and in their lives. Winona State University also has been ranked in the top 100 best-buy colleges, which is worthy of high recommendation considering cost-benefit aspects.

Exchange and collaboration between the two English Departments has intensified since establishing sister-university ties in 1989. The candidate junior students in the 2001/2002 academic year vied for admission to IUP, and they were charged with tuition at the domestic rate as a gesture of IUP's goodwill. Established in 1875, IUP is located at the southwest of Pennsylvania. There are 11,296 students in total, including 5% of oversea students, with the staff-student ratio at 19:1. IUP is a sizeable public university, having enjoyed high reputation in its long history. Its English Department offers the undergraduate, master and PhD programs.

Brandon University, seeing its inception in 1899, is a public university, a common feature of Canadian universities. Brandon University is famous for its music department and library. Its English Department focuses on literary studies and provides with great English writing courses. Brandon is a tiny city (about 40,000 residents), and Brandon University is a small-sized university (about 2,500 students). On its campus, teachers and students have close interaction and professors can provide much concern and assistance in small classes (about 10 to 60 students each class). The city is rather safe that students can feel free and relaxed to go around the city at day or night. Every place in this small city is within 15 to 30 minutes of walk, and the city is as clean as the university.
